Usability

Many developers create a product without taking into mind the average Joe Doe user. While they have a solid understanding of the website or application, strong computer skills and know the back and front end of the website, the average user does not. This is why developers are not the best people to test the usability of a website/application.

With a completely fresh and new user’s experience, Sharon Ideas can come in and give you the feedback on what the average user experiences. What may seem like a logical series of steps through an application to you may be highly confusing to a user. While you may know if you click on a certain link, it takes you back to previous step, your users may not know that. When a developer looks at a webpage, they know exactly where you should click next, but do your customers see that? If you are selling a product or service on your website, do you have a link to purchase it no matter where they are on the website? Is it easy to back track? Find help? Contact you? Where are you losing customers through the cracks just because they cannot figure the application out? What items on your website are not user friendly and may be driving potential customers elsewhere?

This is where Sharon Ideas can give you valuable insight into what works and what doesn’t work. We check for the overall usability: is it easy and straight forward? Is it easy to find what you’re looking for? Is the application easy to understand and use without having to click on help for each step? Can we create an account or download the product without having to pull our hair out? Is help easily available for all steps? Is the help helpful when it is needed? This is all information that Sharon Ideas can assess and document.

Usability is one of the most important goals of any development cycle and bringing in a pair of fresh eyes to give you that valuable feedback can be the deal breaker between an excellent website or application or an okay one.
